Duncan Toys Releases New Counterweight-Style Yo-Yo, The Flying Squirrel!

Duncan Toys has released their latest yo-yo designed for Counterweight-style play, the Flying Squirrel!An undersized, flare-shaped yo-yo, the Flying Squirrel weighs in at 68 grams, the same weight as a full-size Freehand yo-yo! Designed with the serious player in mind, the Flying Squirrel has removable side caps, allowing high-level yo-yo players to access the weights inside the body, and customize the yo-yo to their own specifications. The Flying Squirrel features a ball-bearing axle system and comes with a counterweight of the Flying Squirrel character, shown on the package.
"Counterweight-style" yo-yo play is a method of using a yo-yo without ever tying it to your hand. The string is tied instead to a small counterweight, which is held while the player uses the yo-yo. The counterweight allows players to "let go" of the end of the string while playing, allowing for some of the most incredible yo-yo tricks ever created. Since working with Freehand Inventor and National Yo-Yo Master Steve Brown to develop and patent the original Counterweight yo-yo in 2001, Duncan has constantly pushed the design envelope in an effort to further the counterweight-style of yo-yo play. Counterweight style now has its own division at the World Yo-Yo Contest, the U.S. National Yo-Yo Contest, the Japanese National Yo-Yo Contest, the Brazilian National Yo-Yo Contest, and many more! Counterweight play has become one of the most exciting and fastest-growing styles of yo-yo play in the world, and Duncan Toys continues to push it forward with new yo-yo designed for this incredible style of yo-yo play.
The Flying Squirrel will come in five different color combinations: blue/grey, black/blue, black/orange, orange/grey, and clear. The 3535XP (standard colors) and 3535XC (clear) Flying Squirrel comes in cartons of 12 with an expected retail price of between $7.99 and $10.99.
